● Context
Zeiss is a German manufacturer of optical systems and optoelectronics for life sciences and materials research, and medical technology solutions. Zeiss branded products such as eyeglass lenses, camera lenses and binoculars are in demand and trendsetters around the world.
• Challenge
During the Covid19 pandemic, Zeiss Sales team came to us, Monomango — where I worked as a Multi-media Designer, for a new internal business tool to enable to communicate with their local and global clients with feeling of interaction.
• Solution
We built Virtual Product Demo where the sales team can invite their clients and have a session. After analysing needs of the Sales team, we minimised them into only essential functions and simple inviting process so the users can easily learn this new tool and also for use to reduce the development time.
This virtual showroom is consist of two space modes — 360 Mode where the users arrive after logging in and can move around greeting with others and virtually touching the Zeiss medical machines, and also the host can do a simple presentation. Then, Demo Mode which is focusing on detailed learning sessions about the products with step-by-step explanations.
For the overall interface look, I kept Zeiss's original BI design system and reinforced the aspect as a new futuristic digital product by adding soft outer glow, wide shadow, and 90% of slight transparency.
To raise liveness of the avatar that is composed of user name, user camera view in a circle and a ring surface, I suggested a glow speaking ring effect that represents a smiling mouth transforming based on the level of user's microphone sound.
